But because we did not have accommodation in Colombo, we figured it was better to hang out in Unawatuna itself, go to Colombo during the day to shop (at ODEL - clothes, accessories, knick knacks - all at fantastic prices). The other places one must go to are BAREFOOT ( Galle Road, Colombo) and HOUSE OF FASHION (Duplication Road, Colombo).
Unfortunately for us, only ODEL was open and all the others closed because it was the first of Jan.
Looking back maybe it was not the best of decisions to go to Colombo and come back to Unawatuna, only to head back yet again in the night to the airport. The ride one way was roughly about 3 and half hours and by the time we reached the hotel back it was 6pm!
No regrets however. Colombo was a nice city from whatever we saw - But I'm glad we didn't spend too much time in the main city.. Upcountry is so much more beautiful and rewarding..
Anyways, once back in Unawatuna we grab our last cup of tea on the beach, wave goodbye to the beach (mentally making a note to come back here for sure) and then get down to packing. Have dinner at the hotel itself and crash out for a bit. The cab picks us up at 1.30am and we are off to the International airport. Reach the airport around 5.30 am..get on the flight 8am.
Home Sweet Home 10 am local time.
