Morning I go through the same routine (it's amazing how easily I wake up early only when on holiday ;) bursting to go), chill on the beach the whole morning, get back to change etc. For Lunch we pick a shack called Vimal's ( next to Little Villa and a shack called Peacock) which had the best food in Unawatuna as far as I'm concerned. Excellent service as well.

Here a geriatric German latched on to us and flirted with us outrageously.. or at least thats what it looked like ;) Couldn't understand 90% of what he was saying. Funny guy. To escape I headed into the water and there another Sri Lankan guy piles on. Thank you.

By now Prom and me had tanned completely and were looking like a couple of locals. This apart from our Indian looks was attracting a lot of attention and we were privy to a lot of cat calls and unwanted hellos. Well, the attention is very nice, sure. But beyond a point.. umm.

In the evening , we go for a long walk along the coast to the Buddha temple on the hill, which marks the end of Unawatuna. Words are not enough to describe the view from this vantage point. The sunset is out of the world. What a way to end the year!!

Later in the evening, which was New Year 's Eve, we head back to Vimal's again. Sit at a table right on the beach - most beautiful setting! There was a happening party a couple of shacks away and we figured we'd head there eventually. Charith ( one of the guys with us on the trek to Adam's peak) also joins us with his girlfriend. Lovely people, great food - all is going well. Out of the blue the skies opened up and it started pouring cats and dogs! I love the rain so I was really happy and didn't really care. But we head inside the shack anyway since the others were not as enthusiastic about the turn of events.. and continue to chat drink etc.

By this time, the Geriatric German arrives with a couple of his cronies! (poor prom bore the brunt of the german's affections this time around :D ) We try our best to get the message of 'nope not interested' across but it took an annoying amount of time to register. No big deal however..

With perfect timing,it stopped pouring and we go out - by this time, the new year has arrived!! Wish each other and head over to the party next door. Bottomline - Awesome time. The Music was phenomenal, dancing was great. Dance with a couple of random strangers even! Jumped into the water in a burst of impulsiveness(oh well that would have to be me).. but no harm done. Get back around 3.30 am( we had to get to Colombo early morning) and crash out.
