Arrived in Tumbes after my flight was delayed about 1.5 hours in Lima for no real reason.  I happened to walk by an airline office in Lima the day prior to my flight and thought I'd pop in to confirm my flight.  South American airlines are notorious for over-booking; most recommend you re-confirm your flight at least twice.  I was told that my flight had changed departure times AND that there was now an intermediate stop.  Yea.

The departure time was an hour later...so my stop had saved me time in the airport (or so it seemed at the time).  The additional stop was in Piura...no biggee as it would only be a 20-minute hop to Tumbes after dropping off passengers.  The first officer came over the intercom on final approach and instructed all Piura passengers to prepare for departure and the rest of us to stay put in our seats and we would be back in the air shortly.

Plane lands. Piura passengers depart. Piura passengers return.

We're in Tumbes!  Did the crew know where in the fuck we were before the passengers made it to the terminal and saw "Bienvenidos a Tumbes!"?

ANYWAY, quickly off the plane and into the city to find accommodation. The mozzies are in full force again....not in the Andes anymore!  Just a quick overnight stay; I'm off to Ecuador early in the morning.
