Farther north (or is that further north?) in Argentina means fewer tourists and much lower prices. For all intents and purposes, Salta has everything that Mendoza has but is significantly cheaper. I'm paying 16 pesos per night for my room where I had averaged about 30 pesos per night down south. All the food, wine and fun is here at cheaper prices. Yay!
Still, Salta is not quite Mendoza. Most streets and sidewalks are cramped and congested. Parks are still everywhere and the locals take advantage of these public spaces each day during siesta and after sunset. Every window, doorway and balcony are covered in ornate wrought iron that reminds me so much of New Orleans....even if the style is very different.
The former star attraction in the area was El Tren a Las Nubes, the Train to the Clouds. Unfortunately, it has been shut down for some time now so I'll have to check that out next time I'm out and about. !!
My hostel has been D E A D which has been good and bad, as usual. The good bit is that I've recovered from the debauchery with Susan and Dave in Mendoza....I've finished a few books in a few days and have caught up with sleep.
The bad bit is that it's been a tad boring. I've decided to move on maņana to see what that brings.

Missing the Debauchery??
Just to let you knoe that Dave and I headed to San Luis together. We are not drinking at all so we think you must have been the decisive factor int eh drinking. We only removed one factor, you, and the excessive drinking stopped...coincidence????
Coincidence
My dear, it's only coincidence, I assure you, that your livers went into full-scale failure at the same moment that I left you.
Get thee to a hospital for a full liver evaluation immediately!
