Bariloche has been a good time, but pretty much a good time that I could have had nearly anywhere.  I arrived at my hostel to randomly find several people that I previously met here in South America and we've had a good time just chilling.

I did make it out to Cerro Otto for one day of hiking on a warm and pleasant day.  The mountains are covered with evergreens of every shape and color which makes for a nice hike.  I headed out on my own because sometimes you just need to get away from other travelers!  It paid off as I had a great time with an older (60s) couple from Buenos Aires who were here on holiday and then hiked all the way up the mountain with another guy from B.A. who was perhaps 25.  None of them spoke English and it was fun to get to use my limited Spanish.

The views back towards Bariloche and surrounding mountains and lakes were beautiful, but I must say all those people who only come here for the setting and go no further south are really missing out.  Although good, the area has nothing on Torres del Paine and Fitz Roy.  No comparison.  The town tries to be a little Swiss ski village / tourist mecca with chocolate stores taking up the majority of retail space around.  It pulls it off fairly well.

This is a short one because I'm hung over and really can't think straight.  This may become my base condition as I'm headed on an 18-hour bus tomorrow to Mendoza, the wine producing capitol of Argentina!

Si, vino tinto, por favor!
