I arrived in BKK after another wonderful overnight bus. Why do I do this to myself? The bus saved 3,000 baht PLUS one night's accommodation. That's about 2.5 days of travel in Thailand, even if it is only $80USD. The samples of sleeping pills Jerramy gave me worked OK and I got about 5 hours sleep. I've had much worse.

I didn't really spend much time seeing the sights here. I spent several days in BKK in 2002 and I had no real desire to see anything a second time. I spent more of my time wandering through different areas of the city (like Chinatown), getting a visa, and shopping. I somehow made it to BKK without my hat, with only one flip-flop, and without wet wipes (the horror!). I must have been very ready to get out of Koh Lanta to forget/lose so many things.

In any case, BKK seems to be a city that you either love or hate (I suspect like most big Asian cities). I like the chaos and will look forward to returning here a few times en route to other places. In Southeast Asia, all roads lead here so many travellers return a few times whether they are going by air or land.

I met up with a local guy, Yot, whom I met on one of the travel websites that I often use for research or to get general information. He's probably on his way to Turkey/Syria on holiday and we discussed all the details over a very yummy Thai dinner. In return he gave me a ton of practical info about BKK and we laughed into the night.

BKK has quite the nightlife scene and most nights were filled with debauchery. I hit Babylon this time but saved Patpong for next time. For those of you who have no idea what that means, I urge you to NOT do an internet search to define it. For those of you who do - good times! Needless to stay, the stories can't (or shouldn't be) expanded upon here. I will say that I was able to knit a few shawls for elderly widows and earn a few merit badges.

Sorry for the tease, but my grandfather and little sis' read this and they both think I'm holy and pure.

Vietnam visa....check! I'm headed that direction (through Cambodia) this morning. Next stop Siem Reap and Angkor Wat.

Rain, rain, go away...
Sorry the weather hasn't been that great. We just heard from one of the Aussie's that we met after you left; that it has been raining non-stop. I guess Thailand misses us.
Have fun and safe travels!

Rain vs. Sweltering Heat
The rain has been a drag at nights, but I've been grateful for it a few on the 14-hour bus ride extravaganza in a non-a/c bus yesterday into Cambodia. !!
