Got up early(ish) and caught the train from Sapporo to Hakodate. The views from the train were truly amazing as we followed the coastline and saw a national park or two en route.
Hakodate is a VERY sleepy town with no hope of finding a football match for Si! It says in the guide book that it's much like San Francisco and we both agree (although never having been just seeing@it on TV)@- trams and buses here no subway and very steep hills. The harbour itself is newish with converted warehouses, reminds Dee of the docks in Liverpool. We ate at Hakodate Beer which was recommended, it was ok but as we both don't eat sea food it was the only place we could find. This is the sort of habouring town where you choose which animal you want to eat from a tank and they cook it - spoilt on us really which is a shame. Off to have an early night, must be all the sea food and an early start tomorrow to explore the town further by cable car (tram).
Think Si is sulking as he can't watch football!!
Peanut good, making us aware of his/her presence more each day.
Us x
