Unfortunately, I allowed myself to get behind on my blog so I am about three days behind now. I'll summarize the past few days:
Colorado Springs - We had a good day coming into Colorado Springs, ending our day at Fort Carson. The riders were a little annoyed because they had to group up in order all come on base as a group which meant some sitting around for some of them. The army welcomed them well though, with a band, tons of people and a spray from the fire truck's hose. Some of the local agents also provided dinner for the riders and I got to bed pretty early. The next day was our rest day and I hid in my room for awhile. Lifequest brought in a lot of volunteers for the day so that the staff could get somewhat of a day off too. I went shopping and got lunch with Rae too since she is in the area visiting family. I met up with Alex's sponsor family too so that I could borrow their car to pick up Alex the next morning. Lifequest also threw a staff BBQ complete with karaoke that night which was pretty entertaining.
Denver - I thought the hotel in Colorado Springs was nice, but I was in for a surprise at Denver. After picking up Alex we continued on to Denver to stay with the ride for the day. This hotel was huge and I even got to order room service! Alex and I went out to a nice local Italian restaurant too. It was nice to see him, even if it was just for a few hours. I've been going crazy with all this stress so it was really nice to have almost two days off. Thanks to Amanda's Mom, Marlee, too for taking over for me for the day.
Fort Morgan - After saying goodbye to Alex, I was quickly thrown back into the craziness of the ride. We drove the riders out to the Buckley Air Force base to start their ride and then doubled back to pick up luggage. Two of our riders left today, Bruce and Allen, so I said goodbye to them as well. Unfortunately, they weren't able to free up their schedules for the full two months. Once we left the hotel we posted signs for the turns up to the last water stop, dropped off luggage, picked up room keys and then doubled back to finishing marking the route. I jumped into Carl's car to ride with the first group of riders later to make sure that I was there to hand out room keys. Fort Morgan had a nice welcome for the riders too with the police blocking off intersections, the patriot guard motorcyclists and lots of passerby-er support. When we got to the hotel, the local agents were already hard at work preparing a lasagna dinner for us. We went to a retro bike shop later which featured lots of parts and bikes from the 90s and older to pick up some parts we needed. Brian picked up a tandem bike in Denver which he is now taking a lot of care in decorating and tricking out.  We went and got ice cream as well and I helped Seth put together Stuart's new handcyle. I also discovered tonight that I can't find my toiletry bag either. I called the hotel last night and they don't have it as well. Hopefully it turns up soon...
Tomorrow we are headed to Wray, CO which is almost 90 miles away. Thankfully their is only a small climb and then it is slightly downhill the rest of the way. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow, I was just too tired today.
