The drive this morning was gorgeous. We drove right through canyons, so close I could probably reach out and touch them if I hugged the shoulder. There was also a river that winded beside me for about the first 30 miles. I thought yesterday's ride was awesome, but this one was definitely tied for first. About 80 miles in we began looking for another route because our route would originally take the riders onto interstate 70. We tried two different roads but each had crappy pavement or were just straight gravel - not biker friendly. We made the executive decision to just sag the riders the last 10 miles to the hotel
We arrived at the hotel, dropped the luggage and then checked Chad and Shelia into a different hotel since ours is not pet friendly. After setting Shelia up in the room, we grabbed lunch at a local coffee shop. Very Richmond feel to it and the sandwich was delicious. We went back to the turnoff right before 70 to help sag the riders in. I drove the Queen for the first time today! It is a little intimidating on the highway because once you go over 70 it starts to swerve and the wind wasn't helping. I had no major incidents though! I drove that route back and forth 3 times to pick up riders, had some down time and then went to pick up dinner. I forgot I had ordered chicken sandwiches for dinner so I had essentially the same thing again that I had for lunch. Oh well, I have to get used to sandwiches on this ride anyway.
We have an easy day tomorrow - only 40 miles. State Farm is providing lunch and dinner too which makes my life easier. After that we have another rest day before we head into Colorado.
