It was on our way in to Panaca that we had a large elevation change and I felt a pressure change in my ears
. I then noticed that my hearing was muffled, as if I was underwater. It has only gotten worse throughout the day, to the point where I started crying in the hotel later because it hurt so bad. The pain has thankfully gone away, but the pressure and bad hearing is still there. I am hoping by tomorrow that it will clear up. I really do hate my sinuses.
Anyway, after figuring out rooms and such, Adam and I took all the suitcases to people's rooms and then I collapsed on my bed. I once again missed lunch too, but being sick doesn't give me much of an appetite anyway. I slept for a little bit, only to be woken up by what sounded like tapping on my door to me, but was actually Devin banging on the door to get room keys. We had dinner at the Knotty Pine Restaurant which was true Nevada style, connected to a casino. It was pretty decent and the prices were cheap.
As for Caliente, it is a small town but definitely bigger than Austin. It has a railroad running right through the middle of it with an old western railroad station still standing. We leave Nevada tomorrow when we head to Cedar City, UT. I have never been so ecstatic to go back to a large town than now.
This morning started off pretty well. After going downstairs and having a mini panic attack because I didn't see any coffee, I was soon relieved to see a new pot arriving right behind me. Without coffee, I barely survive through the morning. We then took off in The Queen now with Adam Miller with us to help with the luggage. There were two groups of riders today, so we were the lead vehicle for one of the groups for awhile. It was pretty fun opening up the bus doors and cheering for the riders while also getting to stay with them and watch them ride for a few miles. The morning was kind of rough for them because there was an incline near the beginning, plus everyone was dreading the fact that it was a century day. But as always, they pushed through it and once again impressed me. I am now really determined to get my butt on one of those bikes. After meeting up with the other group, we went ahead to Caliente to drop off the luggage.
