Day 33

Another late start, but its very nice.  Caught a mid-afternoon train to Brussels.  Found our hotel, which is very nice, especially compared to where we have been staying.  Went back in to the city centre, where we went on a quest for McDonald's as that has been our traditional first meal in every country, but one.  The farther west I go in Europe the more multi-cultural it is.  The more cultures collide the more ghettos, segregation, and poverty seem to occur.  It's sad to say, but seems to be the truth.  I can only hope that I am wrong, as this makes me sound like a bigot.  We returned back to our hotel, only after receiving some great free chocolates from a shop owner in the centre.

Quote of the Day: "McDonald's? We have healthy fast food just down the street." Shop worker

Places: Amsterdam, Holland to Brussels, Belgium

Day 34

Back into the city centre after a free breakfast at the hotel.  Went to the City Hall, which was closed for a wedding.  Went to the Cathedral which also had some weddings going on.  Had a very large fight throughout much of the day.  Not good.  Losing serenity.  Explored the Cathedral which was a large gothic church with many oak carvings throughout the church.  It was not as gawdy as many of the other churches in Europe.  Very basic really.  Had a four course meal on the walk back, which was very good.  Walked around trying to find the famous peeing boy statue, which was surrounded by tourists.  Came back early to the hotel for some relaxation.

Quote of the Day: "Go down the street and make a left.  You'll see a bunch of Korean tourists there." Woman giving directions to the peeing boy

Day 35

It's cloudy and cold, and we started the day looking for a water park.  When we arrived it looked rather boring, so we thought maybe a walk around mini-Europe, but it started raining.  So we went to get some fast food.  That process took about 45 mins.  We decided to head back and do some laundry.  Later in the evening we went to the movies.  It wasn't that great, but we had a small adventure exiting the theatre.  In an effort to make it not possible to sneak into another theatre they made it so you have to go out the back exit, over a catwalk above the people queing to get in, and down an alleyway.  Took about 5 minutes.  Then we were free.  Returned to the hotel for the evening.
