When we arrived in the village, there was a little family waiting for us. Though the family had nothing, they had prepared for us a huge meal of couscous and chicken (which had just been killed in front of their house). The food was amazing. We sat and chatted with the family about what it is like to live in the mountains of Morocco
We met up with Hussein, our bus driver, and took off for Chefchaouen. The city was gorgeous. It reminded us of Santorini island with all the blue and white houses and streets. Trying to avoid the winter rain, we quickly checked into our hostel and made plans to see the city. Adam, Sarah, and I spent hours shopping and chatting with people in Chefchaouen. We bought a bunch of clothes, scarves, and trinkets. Adam and I also purchased paintings from an awesome aritist we meet in a back alley study. He gave us tea, whiskey and a great deal on the paintings because we brought him good luck and 5 more clients. We also bought a bunch of spices and teas which are still stinking up my room and clothes here in spain.
Next we meet our group for dinner at a Moroccan restaurant. After dinner, the group had some reflection time with Colleen on the rooftop terrace of our hostel. We shared our favorite experiences and things we learned from the trip. We spent the rest of the night sharing stories and getting to know each other under huge blankets in the hostel's lounge. Tomorrow would be our last day in Morocco.
