Saturday, the school had planned a trip to Segovia! Traveling with a large group of students, but more specifically, my two friends Adam and Sarah, we visited this rural city! Though it is small, the city contains many amazing things.
The first thing one notices when they arrive in Segovia is the huge aqueduct but by the Roman's over 2000 years ago. This thing is HUGE. Our tour started under the aqueduct and wound up the small narrow streets of Segovia. We stopped along the way to take picture of the AMAZING cathedral and the Plaza Mayor. We continued to work out way up the city and eventually reached the other side where the Castle was located. This castle was the original home to Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain, and contains the room where they originally gave Christopher Columbus the permission to go the New World.
After we toured the gorgeous castle, we took a break for lunch and ate some bocadillos and gazpacho. We continued to wonder about the city and we bought a few gifts and many postcards (which I have yet to send...sorry family)!
After a quick spanish siesta in the sun on a overlook of the spanish country side, we headed for the bus, and made our way back to madrid!
