The Amalfie Coastal Drive
is absolutely spectacular and definitely not for the faint of heart. How the Romans hung a highway on the cliffs dropping off to the Med Sea is unbelievable. It took us almost 3 hours to drive down and some of the turns the bus driver made were phenomenal. You could tell it was not his first trip. Hairpin turns to go from near the top of the cliffs to a final stop in Amalfie at sea level and bridges crossing ravines and rivers or fiords. The vegetation is lush and the houses are seemingly just hanging in mid-air. At the bottom end we simply got onto the "turnpike" to beat it back to Naples to be on time for departure. Again ask for the pictures ---- believe me they are spectacular and definitely a slide show worth seeing.
Yesterday was a day at sea or Rest and Relaxation and dinner was a time to see if the old Tux still fit ( it is actually a little too big around the waist. I guess I'll have to work on that but not too much.
