Well it was one of those days*t, sh*t, and more sh*t. This time it wasn't our own, i'll get to that later.

We woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning to a wonderful scrambled eggs and bacon, a true traditional breakfast. We then proceeded to the shuttle around 930, which would take us to a ferry, which would in turn take us to Mackinac Island (pronounced Mackinaw). The island is designed with a true colonial feel. Super old churches, battlefields, and cemeteries filled with people who died over 100 years ago. The island does not allow cars or motor vehicles at all, so we all brought our bikes from home to ride around the island. It was very touristy, with tons of t-shirt shops and souvenirs. There were also lodes of fudge shops on the island, it was hard to choose one but we decided on a shop that seemed like a crowed favorite.

The island was truly beautiful, maybe a little too crowded, and there might have been a few too many steep hills, but nonetheless beautiful. There was also a lot more poopy, but not our own poopy, horse poopy. The island has a ton of horse drawn carriages and the horses just poop right on the street. You could be riding your bike, enjoying the scenery, breathing in the fresh air, and BAM! Horse shit is suddenly in front of your bike and your swerving to get around it, almost crashing into fellow bikers around you. Another word of advice, don't stand next to a horse while it is peeing.

We ate lunch on the island and after lunch Greg, Christopher, Sarah, and CJ left to go play golf at the 18 hole golf course the campsite owns. Beth, Christine, Morgan, Mckenzie, and Michael stayed on the island and went to The Grand Hotel, which is a famous hotel on Mackinac, rated one of the top 100 hotels in the world by traveler magazine. You have to be a guest of the hotel or buy a day pass for 10 bucks to even enter the grounds. We bought the day pass and were glad we did. It was extravagant, all guests at the hotel must were formal attire after 6:00pm, no matter where they are. It also has the largest front porch in the world. We were told to go to the Cuppola room at the very top of the hotel, people said it had majestic views of the island. On our way up Christine had the wonderful idea of stopping on the guest floors to see if we could peek into some rooms, even though we don't think we were supposed. To our luck an armed guard walked right past us and we nonchalantly pretended we knew what we were doing and where we were going. He just walked on by and smiled, no issue. I guess we can now say that we escaped from imperative doom, check that off the bucket list.

We left the island around 4:30pm and met the rest of the gang back at the campsite. Dinner consisted of leftovers form previous nights. After the kids played some games at the arcade, and now we are ready for bed, tomorrow we are making our way to Silver lake Resort and Campground, we can't wait.

As always thanks for reading, talk to you all tomorrow.

Now I really miss the Mitten ~ especially Up North! Even though I have been to Mackinac Island numerous times since I was a toddler, I would still return in a heartbeat! the Mackinaw Bridge at Sunset is sight too beautiful for words. Hope you saw a sunset on Lake Michigan! I am so glad you enjoyed the Island & your trip!
