In the part of Italy we were traveling there were nice freeways but were very congested. At one of the road toll (where we spent about two hours waiting) you could not see the end of the traffic queue at the front or the rear.
The weather was very hot today (about 37 degrees celsius) and we were lucky to have air conditioning in the car.
We finally arrived in Venice around 3pm and we stayed there until about 8pm.
The city is something special... I've never been to Venice and to me it was much bigger than I though it would be. To this day I don't understand why most of the city was built on water.
The canals were very unique and beautiful. There were also many markets and not to mention the shops.
We went to the famous San Marco square where we bought some pigeon food and fed the pigeons (see photos). We both got scratched on our arms. :-) The pigeons liked Roxy so much that they were even landing on her head - lucky she had no dropping on her cap. :-)
The buildings looked great in that "Venice" style. We went past a real estate agency and for a 2 bedroom flat the asking price was €400.000 (about $675.000).
After having Roxy as guide all day - we were just following the "leader" until we realized she made us walk all the way back to the car. It took about 2 hours walking and some very sore feet but we made it in the end. :-) But I have to admit it was a very nice walk and we saw half of the city.
We left Venice and headed toward Milano. Just before Verona we looked for accommodation and after some fiddling around we found a great little Bed & Breakfast place in a place called Monteforte D'Alpeno.
Tomorrow we are going to visit Verona and Milano - can't wait!
