Today is basically our last official day in Washington D.C.  It’s is very windy today and it feels like -15 degrees Celsius with the wind chill factor.
Mattias seemed to have temperature this morning so we decided to go to the Medical Centre to get him checked out.  Short story - minor ear infection and has to take some antibiotics.
Then we visited the Spy Museum which was pretty interesting but again the paranoia is there and we were not allowed to take any photos.  I would like to know - if everyone can go and see the stuff - why can’t you take photos?  What’s the deal with that!?!?!?!
We also continued our tour bus ride and we made a stop at the National Cathedral which was impressive (see photos).  All this was built only with donations!  We waited for our tour bus for about 15 minutes but it felt like 2 hours as it was sooooo cold.  On the way back we passed by 10s and 10s of embassies in Washington.  Yes we also passed by the Croatian and the Romanian embassies.  We saw the residence from the Australian ambassador - which was pretty huge compared to other embassies.
Today was my evening where I wanted to go and take some pictures of some of the monuments we already saw but now during the night and with lights.  I was held up around the White House as it seemed “somebody” was coming home with his chopper and everything was closed around there.  Anyway after about 2 hours walking/running I came home.  This with all the walking we’ve done today = some very sore feet!
As the last activity of the day we went for a dinner in the hotel restaurant which was really really nice. It was our pre-Christmas dinner at one of the best and most romantic French restaurants around (this is what the hotel describe it as :))
I have to say that the hotel service was one of the best if not the best we ever had.
Time for some rest - it’s an early start tomorrow.
