Today we had to wake up “early”  at around 7am.  :-)  We had to get ready to the 3.5 hour train ride to Washington D.C.  All went well and we arrived in Washington at around 1pm.
The encouraging thing about here is that there is a bit of snow on the ground (see some of the photos).  Also Washington D.C. is much neater and tidier than New York.
We checked in our hotel which by the way is heaps better than our New York hotel.  We are so impressed that we extended the stay in Washington by 1 night. :-)
Not to waste a minute we decided to go for an afternoon stroll close to the place we were staying.  We saw buildings like The Treasury, The White House (from the front and back), various monuments, etc.
It was funny that just when we arrived at the front of the White House one of the guards told us we had to clear the area and nobody was to take any more pictures.  Since I didn’t even manage to take 1 photo I asked him if I could just take 1 photo and you guessed, the answer was a resounding NO!.  You should have seen the security around the White House area...  It was a small army - security everywhere!  There were even snipers at the top of the white house!  What an overkill...
After a tiring shopping experience at Macy’s and after getting some dinner we were ready to knock off and go to our hotel room for some much needed rest (Note: this is a G rated post ;-) ).
Tomorrow - some more of Washington... I am not a “city” man but Washington is nice even in my books.
