Where I stayed
What this meant was that we didn't arrive in time to Sac Central church to get the verse to read during the central study hour (sorry Ariel and Jessica). :-( I tried but it was an uphill battle all morning (no need to mention who's fault it was). Anyway, we came during the song service which was still pretty cool. The Sacramento Central church seemed much bigger than then what my impression was while watching on the Internet. It was cool too see the people "from the Internet" in real life. The central study hour was led by Pr Doug Batchelor who also had the sermon during worship service. There was also a baptism which was a bonus.
Afterwards there was a pot luck lunch which was pretty good and we enjoyed it
Following the lunch we went and did some sightseeing (lets just say Roxy wasn't in the mood for photos). I made great use of the mini tripod that Sorin gave me. :-) The centre of town was very neat and beautiful.
We finally started on our way to San Francisco. Roxy took some photos while I drove (i.e. traffic, landmarks, etc). We finally encountered some REAL traffic closer to San Francisco. Here was their version of Sydney Harbour Bridge where there were something like 15 different cash booths collecting $4 per car. It took us about 20 minutes just to pass through there (its Saturday) so you can imagine how much money they make per day.
We made it to our hotel and I have to admit my first impressions of San Francisco are not that impressive. We are staying in downtown San Francisco and 1 or 2 blocks away it's dirty and a lot of homeless people. The car park people tried to cheat on us, lucky I sensed something fishy. The food is much more expensive than other places we've been to. I'll wait until tomorrow at least until I make up my mind about San Francisco.
