Show trip route
I organized with Roxy to bring Mattias to my work so that I can do a "Show And Tell". The only problem was that Mr. Mattie decided to sleep at that time and nothing and nobody was to wake him up.
When we took him in he had his serious face on and wasn't impressed, be he managed. Then we came to a girl whom I won't name and she totally upset him with her high pitched squeaky voice. :-)
Anyway after a few minutes we had to go and we were on our way to the airport.
Needles to say Roxy was very worried about how Mattias would handle his first ever flight (outside the tummy). He was fine. He slept through take off and landing on our way to Melbourne. The story is not so bright when we arrived in Melbourne. He was pretty upset at the airport and Vlad tried to comfort him (he tried bouncing while sitting, bouncing while standing, taking to him, walking him, etc). Nothing worked! During this time Roxy decided it was a good time to play games on the laptop.
When she finally decided to assist with Mattie, all she did was wrap him and walk him for 30 seconds and he was "deep asleep".
On the flight to Launceston everything went well and Mattie slept through the flight.
When we landed, I saw the airport had no tarmacs and we had to walk for good 150 meters to get to the terminal entrance gate. The temperature was pretty cool but not that different from Canberra.
The luggage came in 2 minutes and the airport was empty. You might ask yourself what were we still doing there. Well it was the car hire company... the car was ready but they forgot about the baby seat, then we found out that the seat was turned forward instead of backward, then they figured out that a hatchback will not do and said that they will give us a sedan. In the end all went well, we got a bigger car and we were on our way.
One thing we got to say about Tasmania is that the people are VERY friendly and are helpful. I was pleasantly surprised.
It took us 15min to get to Launceston CBD where our accommodation was (Airlie on the Square B & B). The accommodation was very old style with rooms having really high ceilings and a lot of old style furnishings. We thought that was interesting (especially Vlad).
After checking in we were quickly in bed trying to get some rest after a long day. And what rest we had...
