I had an awesome day today. I left Kiruna (Swedish Lapland) this morning and rode a snowmobile (Skidoo) to the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi before riding back and having camp-baked salmon and potatoes on a frozen lake and indulging in some good ol'-fashioned axe-throwing. The snowmobiling  was so much fun (even more so after the visit to the Absolute Vodka Ice Bar!) and went through some fantastic sugar-icing snow scenery, and the Ice Hotel was absolutely amazing. So many beautiful carvings, it was absolutely fantastic.
I  shall give you a brief rundown of the trip so far:
I keep meeting lots of interesting, kind and friendly people everywhere I go which has made things rather more fun than they would otherwise be.
I flew out on the 20th February.Denmark was good, although I managed to arrive without my camera so the budget immediately went out of the window. Copenhagen was lovely although there was no snow! Christiana was rather bleak in a Mad-Max kind of way. Anyway, it was good to be back in Denmark.
Next it was onto Malmo (Sweden) over the Öresund Bridge (my favourite structure ever) and onto Lund for a night staying in a retired train which had been converted to a Youth Hostel. Even though I was only there for one night I took rather a liking to this University town. The next day it was up to Gothemburg and an excellent hostel full of really friendly people. I spent a few days here in the same dorm as an Daniel,  an American soccer player, and Chris , a journalist student with the most remarkable Swedish / Doncaster accent with whom I performed '500 miles' with fantastic Scottish accents for the Karaoke night at an Aussie bar, nice. I really liked the atmosphere in Gothamburg (even though I can't spell it). It was here that I had my first Swedish meatballs also my first sauna, Finnish style, in which I managed to burn my bottom on the way in. I actually heard it sizzle, ouch!
Still it was good fun.
Next it was onto Stockholm where, with some Spanish friends, we seemed to see just about the entire city in 2 days and somehow ended up in the middle of a Kosovo rally surrounded by Serbians.............
