Ok...so we're a little behind in this blog, but we'll try to get some entries out before we get back...And we'll add pictures as soon as we get home.

Hola!  We are in Baņos, Ecuador.  We flew into Quito on Thursday night and spent the day in Quito on Friday.  We hadnīt realized how huge the city was.  We stayed in a cute hotel in the Old Town.  We wandered around the city during the morning and decided to head to the Basilica.  Little did we know that the streets to get there were really steep...think San Francisco steep.  With the steep road and the high altitude (I think around 10,000 feet) we took many rests to catch our breath.  The Basilica was well worth it though.  We got to climb to the top by crossing a plank, and climbing up some ladders.  We were amazed at how few tourists there were.  We had the whole place almost to our ourselves.  There was an amazing view at the top.  We wandered around the new part of the city in the afternoon, found a nice coffee shop, wandered through a market, and had some lunch.  Then we did the coolest thing!  We went up a huge mountain in a sky train type thing called Teleferiqo.  It was absolutely amazing, although freezing up there!  The view was unbelievable.  We were higher than the clouds.  We had dinner in a modern, weird, but tasty restaurant.  It was a funky pink house and where we sat it looked like a furniture or car store the way we seemed to be on display to everyone on the street.  A great day.
