Although not initially planned, I found out that my friend Mark - whom I met back over in Amsterdam end of 2005 - had moved to Chicago. I had a good feeling about going there, so I found a ticket and flew in. I crashed on Mark's couch for 5 nights and explored the city from there. It's hard to point out a moment, but that city has got such a high vibe! All the blues cafes, people on the street, metros doing the loop downtown, hot dog and deep pizza places... mmm! I liiiiiiiike!

I got in luck that weekend, it turned out that on Friday Jeff Mills was playing in Smart Bar and the day after Soulwax / 2ManyDJs in the place next door (Metro). Wiiiihooooo! So I put on my dancing shoes and danced for two nights straight. I needed that! Mark showed me around town. All high-high-rise (Sears Tower is the tallest building in the USA) in the center and lower buildings around it. Makes for a cool feel to the city.

Next to all that, I met up with somebody I had never met before. 6 years ago I was addicted for a year and a half to this shoot'm'up game Unreal Tournament, which I played every day in a clan - this guy was part of my clan back then. We talked forever online, but never met in person. He's from Sweden himself and was studying for a year in Chicago. So when I met up with him, it was like I had already known him. It was extremely relaxed hanging out with him, I even got to see him perform in a cafe. And he seriously rocked! Guitar/singing and what's that thing called... harmonica! Keep on playing bro! you rock! :)

Another city I want to come back to some day! And Mark.. thanks ever so much for having me over.. I hope you'll find a job in the thing you are good at! Send me some of your recordings some time! Actually, play a duet with Simon some time! ;-)
