After a good sleep on the nice beds we got into a bus for what george said would be a two hour bus ride. It turned out that the but ride was going to be three hour ride to a place where we change coaches and then it turned into anothe hour and a half to the town at the bottom of the Yellow mountains.
The yellow mountains or Huang Shan have a 1200 year history as a tourist attraction!! And is where poets and painters have come for countless cunturies to be inspired by the breath taking scenery. (getting there i realise that when they say breath taking they mean it - there are a lot of stairs and it takes a lot to get your breath back!!)
In Tangkou (the village at the base) we have lunch at this nice little restruant above a store in the base. It was nice with more rice and other fillings. We had a wander about the village getting even more food for our stay in the mountains, snacks and the like but i did find something that i had been craving... Watermelon!! and it was 4Yuan for half of a big one!! it tasted soo good!! The only trouble with it was that i now had to cary it around with me as well as all of the food and water that i got before! My food bag is really heavy now!!
And then it was back onto the bus for a short 20 min ride further into the mountains to our hotel; Taoyuan Hotel. The road up was very windy and again the chinese drivers have no concern for their safety, the mopeds on our side of the road even when we are going around a blind corner!! Horns ablaizing!!
The hotel again was good, with amazing views from our window (pic to be added throughout!!) As we were stuck in the mountains for the night and there was nothing to do 4 of us - Vanessa, Stine, Sandra and I played marjhong that i had arranged to have taken into our room from the hotel. It is a great game and we are all getting much better at it!!
I know this has not been that interesting an entry, just a big day of travel!!!
