From another overnight train which i think we are getting better at sleaping in, we arrived in shanghai at 9.30 where we get into another bus which takes us to Nanjing Notel where we will be staying for the two nights.

Shanghai is a huge city and there is lots to explore. As a group we went to the city centre and had a look around the big sky scrapers and the centre of the downtown. Looking at the new highrise housing complexes. Some of which only three of the suites are taken in the whole complex. George showed us around and gave us some more information about the buildings. We had to take the gerry to get to the main area. it was like 1p to get over!!

From the centre we got George to point us to where we could catch the magrail train. Idid this with Stine and Vanessa, the others having chosen to do other activities!! The Magrail train is one of the fastest trains in the world - could be the fastest. I will have to check. It goes from the main train station in Shanghai to the Airport.

It is an eight minuite ride and the train reaches 431km/h. Above the door in each of the carrages was a spedo where it showed the speed of the train - well obviously!! And when the train got up to the top speed it started to shake and rattle. When it started to slow down everything seemed to go so slowly. Even the other trains and busses that would normally be fast looked relly slow!!

We wandered around the airport a bit before getting the train back to Shanghai where we split up again and i went looking for lunch which i found in a resturant opposite the hotel. No-one from there spoke any English and i had to resort to pointing at the food and guesturing. I ended up with what i wanted - Dumplings in a peanut butter sauce.

And knowing me well you can guess what happened next..... Yep you guessed it - one of the dumplings slipped out of my chopsticks and landed in the sauce splashing a lot of it onto my shorts and shirt as well as on the table!! I am making a habbit of this! dropping food, well at least the messes are getting smaller!!! I then went back to the hotel and had to change shorts and shirt, putting them in the sink and letting them soak.

I then went on another of my explorations!! this time a bit closer to the hotel, looking back into the back alleys and the other areas.

Near evening i found julius and i asked him if he would come with me to the post office and interperate for me when i sent some of the stuff that i have aquired on the journey and some stuff that i packed and didnt need.

On the way back i saw another street vendor who was cooking noodles in a wok on the side of the road, the smell coming from it was so so so good so i just had to have some, and i got some take away noodles which i took back to my room and ate there.

Later a group of us went to the local pub and had a well earned beer together. They had dice cups there and we played some dice games and talked before Stine started falling asleep at the table and we decided to call it a night!
