I woke up early this morning at 7 to find that julius had left already so i wandered down to the dining room where our breakfast was included. It was a traditional chinese breakfast complete with noodles and dumplings. Julius and i spent over an hour and a quater over that breakfast, others coming down and leaving whial we were still there. I went through a lot of watermellon that morning!! and they kept bringing it out!! AND it was free!! or prepaid so all you can eat!! My favourite!!
We all gathered in the lobby of the hotel for 11am for our trip down to Tanxi where we will catch our overnight train to Shanghai.
The trip started with a two hour bus ride to a small village on the side of the road. We all got out of the bus and met one of the farmers who lived there. He took us into his home and showed us around. The first room of the house was the sitting room type area where we stood around and he told us about his life, what he did during the day and night. How he is a farmer and looked after his crops.
In his house he had two kitchens, one for his family and one for his son who lived in the house with his wife. they had their own side of the house and used their own kitchen to prepaire their food.
In the fathers kitchen he had some machenery that when asked he told us that the village made tea as its main source of income. The big rotating drum was used to dry the tea and the other bits were used to package and sort the tea. As a thankyou for alowing us into his house and showing us around i bought some tea. It will be interesting to compaire the two teas i have - the ones from dragonwell tea village and this batch!!
We then got back on the bus and continued onto the train station.
We got to the train station and got on the sleaper train up to Shanghai at 9.30.
