The flight touched down at 6.50 and we were at the terminal at 6.55 so we were right on time!! Well done air New Zealand.

The approach to hong Kong airport is amazing, there are these small island that start to appear between the clouds and the ocean. [Pic] they get bigger and bigger till big apartment blocks start sprouting up into the sky from the shore of these islands. The landing was so smooth that there was little difference between being in the air and on the ground. Except the sudden slowing down!!!

Getting through the airport was easy!! There was a long walk before the immigration, had no trouble getting through and when i went to the carousel by bag was already going through. I think this is the first time this has ever happened to me, even when with the family.

Once through customs and with my bags i went to the hotel shuttle buses which is the cheapest (at 130HKD) and the easiest way that i found to get to the hotel. The bus ride was great except i kept falling asleep and waking with a start. The buildings just rise out of the bays of the islands, its great!! Got to the hotel early in the morning and tried to check in but the room was not ready yet so i dumped my bag with the valet and went for a wander around the area. I went through the Ladies Market and the market on Feng Yven St. but it was so hot and humid here that after a while i had to have a rest and i found a seat in the shade by the end of Feny Yven St. After a lunch form one of the streed stalls i continued my wanter around the area, every now and then escaping into an airconditioned shop to cool down.

Back at the hotel for 6 to meet the rest of the Intrepid group. It is a great group and i get along with them all. In total there will be 9 but we are meeting Julius in a couple days. There are Ben and Jo who are traveling as a couple, Jo has been round SE asia and ben came to meet her in china. Stine who is the closest to me in age at 21 and from Scandanivia, she is also doing a design related course in uni. Vanessa and Jennifer who are from england and have come out for just a bit of time in china (they are traveling separetly). Lyn who is the oldest in the group and is doing a year of travel. and Sandra from Belgium. Julius who we met later is from calafornia and is studying chinese in china for a couple terms, he also did some design work!

We all met in the lobby where we filled out paperwork and met out guide George. We went out for a group dinner. Used the chopsticks, i will be having a lot of practice using them for the next two months!!

Went to bed early as i was exhausted, everyone else did the same!!
