Took the girls to another Huaca this time an archaeological site consisting of 3 pyramid temples located in Brujo, a good hours drive from Trujillo. On the way it was possible to count around 15 different ruins both nearby the road and far in the distance. The driver told us that when traveling further he had counted around 25 different crumbling mounds showing the extent to which this are was once populated.
The first Huaca Cao Viejo was in a very similar state as that of the Moon Temple however the most fantastic part is not open for public viewing for at least another 3 months. A great shame as the diggers have discovered the burial site of a 1500 year old tatooed lady on one of the higher levels. From the pics the guard showed us the friezes are perfectly preserved and of a different world from those seen yesterday. Never mind something for next time.
The Huaca l Brujo has yet to be excavated and looks to have been severely ravaged by grave robbers and the final black coloured Huaca Prieta is just an ancient dump but gives good views of the other two mounds 01 Huaca Cao Viejo

we diverted our driver to stop in Huanchaco on the way back in order to catch the last rays of sun and walk along the surf watching the surfers tackle the huge waves before going to Jens for another tasty typical Peruvian dish prepared by her mum.
I ended up missing the bus... I could blame the taxi driver for driving so damn slow all the way to the station and then once we were no longer in a rush driving like a maniac to take me back to Jenny´s house but in reality 10 minutes to do a 15 minute journey was my bad!
It is possible to check out pics from www.nationalgeographic.com and search for Cao Viejo
