well, we left el bolson on an overnight bus and arrived in comodoro rivadavia the next morning. we had to wait an hour or so for our next bus to rio gallegos. that was 12 hours of nothingness. i mean total nothingness. no tress, no hills, no towns, nothing. well, we did stop in one little town, but i just canīt understand how anyone could live there. itīs almost a full day from anything else. blah. we got into rio gallegos around 8 and found out we wouldnīt be able to get a bus to ushuaia the next day, like we had hoped, but would have to wait an extra day. crap. we headed to the only campground. i was a little nervous walking over there. it was only 5 blocks from the bus station, but it was in the middle of an industrial-type zone. but it seemed nice enough, and was cheap, so what can you do. the woman in charge told us there was going to be a party there that night with music until 5 in the morning. yeah. so we asked for a spot far from that. that night, however, we didnīt even hear a party, so iīm not sure if there really was one
the next day we grabbed a bus to the center of town. ours, however, must have been the one that takes the long route. 25 minutes later, we were downtown. really, not a lot to do here. we went to the museum to the pioneers. it was in a little house built in the early 1900īs. it was just 4 small rooms, but they had some really neat photos, and even some dresses and a suit. one room was set up with doctorīs equipment. ehhhh...iīm not sure i would have gone to the doctor a lot back then.
so the first night was fairly quiet around the campground. this night, not so much. around 1130, a dj started setting up for what appeared to be a quinciņera. that meant kids coming and going all night long. and apparently to be able to drive in that campground your car isnīt allowed to have a muffler. the people who camped next to us (and there was a section about 30 ft by 60 ft with no one in it, but they set up 5 ft from our tent) decided to leave at 230, but first they thought theyīd rev the engine for a good 5 minutes (again, no muffler). suffice it to say, i didnīt sleep much that night. we had to get up at 6 for our bus, so when the music finally stopped at 630, it did me no good. how can people function staying out all night long? and who lets their kids stay out all night? our cultures are so different.

who need sleep anyway?
You guys are young and on an adventure so who needs sleep?
I have carrying around a map of south america and showing people where you are. Amazing.
I started looking at some other people's blogs. Maybe Dad and I should do one of these?
Blessings,
mom
