So, time came eventually to leave Leon - i had gone for 3 days and landed up staying 2 weeks! A bunch of us decided to move on down to Granada, a gorgeous little colonial town about an hour or so south east of managua, so we hopped on the minibuses and made it down there fairly painlessly. Upon arrival at the Bearded Monkey hostel, the conceited dutch guy who worked there wouldn't let me check in until i showed him my passport - which was locked in my case - and i couldn't find my keys... so i ended up having to lug my suitcase down to the local firestation so that they could cut the lock off - and obviously, i found my keys shortly after - in my bag where they'd always been - but the dumbass just flustered me so much that i hadn't been able to find them! i know i know - its probably me that was the dumbass!

We were all pretty tired that night - most of the others had had a very big night out in leon the night before (terminating with Chris, an ozzie guy that we left behind, going psycho and punching walls - hmmm - dodgy ozzie boys) - so it was early off to bed and i was out of the hostel at dawn the next day to catch the Tica bus down to costa rica. not that i minded, the bearded monkey is I suppose nice enough but it was a little too gringo-ey for me (am i becoming a snob about other travellers ? i don't know. no, i don't think so - just selective ) so definitely time to move on...
