Rode our last Auto Rickshaw to the airport and boarded our flight to Columbo in Sri Lanka. Bit of a shock moneywise after being in India as most things were priced in Dollars! Changed our remaining rupees, got a bit to eat and boarded our flight to Bangkok.

Unfortunately due to a problem with the cargo door on the plane we were all de-planed and had to wait a number of hours until the issue was resolved. We had intended to catch the 10pm flight out of Bangkok direct to Phuket but as we were delayed we spent the night in the airport travel lounge. Caught the first flight out next morning and once we landed in Phuket we raced in a taxi to Rassada pier to catch the 11am ferry to Koh Phi Phi.

Next thing the engine in the taxi overheated and we were pulled in at the side of the road with lots of people pulling up to see what the problem was. I had visions of this being a scam and was just a little uneasy. All was on the up and up however and another taxi got us to the ferry on time. Felt a little like Phileass Fogg racing around the world at this stage.

We were delighted to in Koh Phi Phi. Enjoyed the pool and had some nice dinner on the beach. Next day we climbed to check out the viewpoint using the new Tsunami escape route. My god the damage that was done here was shocking. It really got hit hard. All of the resorts have been rebuilt and tourism is well and truly back on track here.

Caught the ferry to Koh Lanta and got our first motorcycle taxi to the Langhams Place Eco Resort. After all the travelling we adored this heavenly place. It had everything from its own cinema to fully stocked dvd library with dvd players in every room. We swam, went kayaking and snorkling by day and enjoyed beautiful thai food by night.

We were also introduced to the thai addiction to massage. One evening we both had thai massages right on the beach as the sun was setting...memorable.
