We drove up to Northern New Zealand in anticipation of diving at the famous Poor Knights Islands.  We had been told that its one of the best so had to do it.  It was a unique experience.  The water was colder than what we were used to but there is a tropical current that flows past these islands, so the underwater life is very unique to this area.  We were blown away.  Diving through kelp forests was really cool and we were so many different types of fish and huge schools!  The soft coral was beautiful and we saw such interesting creatures.  The major highlights were going into a cave and going up into an air pocket where you could remove your regulator and breath normally.  And we were 8-9m under water still!  The other was getting very close to a giant sting ray.  Wow!  We loved the dives and the scenery was so beautiful even about water.

We were also very fortunate to stay at an awesome bed and breakfast.  We were the only ones staying here and it was in the home of a very lovely couple.  They made us feel right at home and we ate our dinners with them, staying up late both nights having chats about food, the world and life.  It was great and it made our time there even better.

This area of New Zealand is very beautiful.  We loved driving along the coast, stopping to hike down to a secluded beach and seeing the beautiful water.  Its a wonderful place.
