Today was much better to say the least.... Claudia is the chief resident and she is very nice.... she is actually from Peru which was cool. So she found me a desk and microscope (well its someone else's but they are working elsewhere for the time being) and sorted me out some books and a list of whats going on. Then basically I went to a few conferences where they teach to the other pathology residents (doctors training to be consultants) which was good. I also went to a few sessions in the microscopy suit and did some more learning. I cant say I did anything hands on as such, I mean someone posted something about dead bodies. Most of pathology is looking at the microscopic tissue of LIVING people and thats what I have done today. There will be some autopsy work to be done and I will probably get hands on as it were then..... but mostly it will be academic as thats the nature of the beast!
So yes, I learned about liver cancer and colon cancer and did some reading. They are much more geared up to teach pathology here than in Devon and I suspect anywhere in the UK as they have lots of doctors training in it here. I think there will be a lot of good things going on and they seem quite flexable about hours (see why I chose it?). I also had a bit more of a look around as well. Oh and the best bit I nearly forgot, they gave us free lunch... pizza and coke ha ha! Now thats healthy eating for us medics....
Now I am trying to figure out where to go shopping; I still have not found a proper supermarket or anywhere to buy a kettle (oh yes we dont have a kettle). I think I will go and search for one.....
To those who text me, dont worry its free but I probably wont respond because its 25p per text to send... I do have my phone on though, contrary to rumours. Also for calls its expensive to do either phone or answer so not likely to do that with current total bill! Email and MSN are the way forward people.... get with the times and you will be all set! Now have a good one ya'll...

Hi
Glad to hear you've had a better day!!
You might have to ask where you can buy a kettle or even borrow one. What are you using at the moment? What are you doing today in Pathology? I thought it was mostly dead people that you cut up and looked at isn't it?
I bet you can't guess who i had a card from?? OMG your nanny Kaye and money lol.
I hope you are having comments from other people it seems like it's only me and your mum at the moment.
Take care have a nice day!!
Love
Fiona xx
