Back to Yangshou
Entry 28 of 32 | show all | print this entry |
We decided to begin our travels by returning to yangshou, as it is surely the lovliest town in all of china. totally laid back, with beautiful surrounding, a glorious food market and a comfortable hotel with a very friendly manager, who even remembered us from before. We stopped off there so Domi could buy some more latino cds in the best pirated cd shop - a huge range of obscure and good music copied from i don't know where. And we went in the MUD CAVES which is my favourite thing i have done in China, unfortunately the photos i have were printed out there as we couldn't take our cameras in so you'll have to wait...we had to go underground in a boat, (wearing our swimming costumes and a red hard hat, very fetching!) then trek underground through tunnels and caverns, after about an hour we came to a mud pool, with a slide, and we covered oursleves in volcanic mud. it was so good! then we trekked out of the caves, covered in mud, and emerged at the top of the hill, with rice farmers all around looking bemused at the strange mud monsters! we had to walk through the fields for about half an hour covered in mud, until we came back to the cave entrance and we swam in a clear freshj water pool until we were clean, my skin has never felt so soft - the best spa treatment in all the world!
