I long, as does every human being,
to be at home wherever I find myself.

I think I've managed to do just that.

I've settled into my new home near Chicago,
But I had to tag Indiana, because in truth,
I've already spent more time there
than I have here in Arlington Heights.
We headed out to the Indiana Dunes today.
The photo doesn't exaggerate a single grain of sand.
If anything, it doesn't do close to any kind of justice.

Lake Michigan reaches that far out,
you wouldn't guess for a second that it wasn't an ocean.
From the Indiana side, Chicago was nothing
but a silhouette of lego-size buildings on the horizon.
But it's so calm, not a single wave, not even a ripple.
Nothing but stillness & peace, 200 kilometers across.

Spent the day running down the dunes, swimming in the lake, playing frisbee on the sand,
being mocked for my silly Australian slang & habits, & of course, watching the amazing sunset over the water.
Valerie, the girl I'm going to be caring for this year, sat on the sand & played with her mermaid barbies,
(along with all the awesome Disney gifts I got her) & complimented me on how well my English is.
I think she was a little less impressed when we reminded her that it's my first & only language!

This place & this family reminds me so much of home.
I'll upload photos of the beautiful Arlington Heights when I eventually get the chance to take some!
Oh & photos are now up on the last entry, of my New York trip (:
Enjoy guys, I'm going to bed.
This time difference really is a bitch!
