Hello.
Just a short chapter to describe my visit to Canberra, Australia's capital city. I arrived in Canberra just after 7.00 and then found my hostel. I had slept quite well on the bus, so after a shower and a change of clothes, I walked over to Parliament House and the other government buildings located in the city. The Parliament House was very impressive (it was only opened in 1988). It also provided some great views of the rest of the city and the Old Parliament House (http://groups.msn.com/TheLifeofRowly-Part2/canberra2003.msnw) I went on a tour of the House, which took in the Great Hall, the Aussie version of the House of Commons and the Senate (Aussie version of the House of Lords but with younger i.e. not dead or dying people, in it).
After the tour around the House, the tiredness hit me, so I walked back to the hostel for a mid afternoon kip. Got up again at 17.00, spent a few hours loading up my pictures onto the Life of Rowly-Part 2 and then went for a bite to eat and a few beers in one of the (very quiet) city bars. I left Canberra this morning at 12.30. I'm glad I visited the country's capital and Parliament, but a day, as Bill Bryson and several of my mates had told me, is really all you need to see the place. I'm now in Sydney (actually in the City Centre YHA, where I stayed 4 years ago) waiting for my overnight bus to Brisbane. I've managed to get a ticket for the quarter final match a week on Sunday, which should be England v Wales, so I plan to stay in or around Brisbane for a week (any tips on where to visit guys?- Byron Bay, any of the theme parks up in Surfers?). It will then be back down to Sydney (probably around 12th Nov) for the semis and Final. I will also then start the search for a job (I've been told it shouldn't be too difficult to find work).
Hope everyone is well. Till next week. More thumbnails ...
