Thursday was another fun day. We woke up nice and early and got a train to Vesuvius. We got there at a good time and then caught a taxi up the volcano. We had about an hour and a half until we had to leave. It took about forty minutes to get up. When we got to the top we could see all this gas escape. We then did a little walk around around the top of the volcano and I saw this little dragon model for £12.00 which is equivalent to $18.00. I decided not to purchase it and maybe save up for something else. After that we started walking down. I got down first out of our family. Then just before we left I saw a small shop with the same dragon I saw earlier. However it was only £8.00 which is $12.00. My dad then said if you save £4 by going down Vesuvius it might be cheaper in a normal shop.

When we came back from Vesuvius we had lunch which was a small pizza. Then we walked to a small ruined fishing village called Ercolano. Ercolano is one of many small villages that got wiped out in 79BC by Mount Vesuvius. We wandered around there for about some time. We saw all these 2000 year old Roman houses. We saw these bones of some dead Romans that died of toxic fumes and ash from the eruption. After about 2-3 hours of walking around ruins we got the trains back to Sorrento.
