After Valdivia we made our to our most southerly point on the trip; Puerto Montt. Puerto Montt is the place where most people go to get transport down into Patagonia. Four of our group were making their way down there, so it was our last day altogether. First of all we went for a traditional seafood dinner. Now, anyone who knows me will know I'm not the biggest seafood fan, but Puerto Montt is famous for it's fishing, so I had to try something. So I ordered the hake, but there was loads to choose from, including salmon, conga eel and loads more. Once we ordered, one of the cooks went off to the fish market to buy the fish then and there! You can't get fresher than that! It was delicious. I've never had fish like it. It was so soft and falling apart, it was that fresh. A really good meal. Then finally it was time for some shopping! I'd been desperate to get some local things, and finally I had my chance at Puerto Montt's handicraft market. I bought an alpaca jumper and socks to keep me warm, as Chile is freezing! Compared to prices at home, alpaca is really cheap! I was very pleased with my new purchases, as was everybody else who also came away with alpaca clothing and a variety of other things.

Then it was off to Puerto Vares, for our overnight stop. Unfortunately, the weather was still crap, and we could only vaguely see the volcanoes across the lake. It was quite late when we arrived, so after walking down to the lake we just chilled in the hostel. As we were chilling, a guy who worked at the hostel came and told us tomorrow he was going to take guests for a drive through loads of the National Parks, and were we interested. Of course I was! But we had to tell him we were all leaving in the morning. I was really annoyed, as I desperately wanted to see some of the National Parks. Anyway, that evening, our guide Havi had decided to cook dinner for us all, as it was our last night together. So when it was ready, we sat down to one of the best meals I've had whilst travelling! Amazing meatballs in delicious sauce with mashed potatoes and salad. It was amazing, Havi is a brilliant cook!

Once we were all completely full, we sat and had some 'Piscolas', which is the national drink Pisco and Coca Cola. Really good! After many Piscolas, the younger members of our group went out together one last time. We all had a brilliant night, and it was a fun way to spend our last evening together!
