Well, we found the rain.

I wasn't even sure we were looking for it. But lucky us, we found it. After not doing our day trip in Cairns to Fitzroy Island (it was actually raining sideways) and spending an afternoon laughing at the 'Fockers' and other afternoon watching 'Alfie', we headed down south.

The plan was to sail for three days in the Whitsunday Islands (from Airlie Beach) and then rent a 4WD and camp around Frazier Island (HUGE sand dune island).

So we took a ten hour bus ride (in major rain) to Airlie, got to a rather poor excuse for a hostel and had a few drinks. Spent the next day drinking Corona and reading the paper (avoiding the rain). It's so wet here most people have resorted to walking around in their swimmers and nothing else. Alternative water sports becoming popular are pavement body boarding (really I'm not joking !)

Woke up this morning and saw the palm trees bending over with rain pounding down. So the trip is canceled, and there is no sun in sight! Depressing weather websites are basically indicating that considering building an Arc is the only way to go.

So sitting in a internet place (with the rain coming down and my (wet) poncho on my lap) wondering what to do. Sailing is out, and we have moved our bus ride from Airlie Beach to Hervey Bay (12 hours...overnight...) to this evening.

Bummed out that we won't sail here. But man-o-man, I am happy we aren't out in a sail boat in this weather!!
