There was one sight to see in Denton before we hit the road for Paris. We returned to the Denton County Courthouse to see the Pecan Picasso's display.
This is a unique pecan art collection produced by the late B.W. Crawford, a grassroots artist. Mr. Crawford assembled pecans to form shapes, and he painted them as people. Some of the famous people on display are Miss Piggy, Dolly Parton, Superman, Mr. T, Elvis, Liberace, Johnny Carson, the Smurfs, and hundreds more. Unfortunately, the museum does not allow photography. :-(
As we left the Courthouse museum, we walked right past Ruby's Diner -- a classic local cafe of the type we love to visit. It was 10:00 am, so we stopped in for some breakfast pie. Barbara had Coconut Cream Pie, and I had Cherry Pie. Both were very good -- not award winners, but good pie. We enjoyed the ambience.
We took photos of two classic old theatres, and we got some nice photos of the Denton County Courthouse.
Just two more points-of-interest, and then ON TO PARIS!
