Well back again and a awake The sage continues ha ha ha, in the city of merchants tour we did not get back to the hotel till about 8pm so by the time we had dinner etc it was 9,30 for bed and the alarm woke us at 11.30 to get ready for a 12.30 pick up to the airport. The Driver arrived on time and off we went picked up another couple of Aussies on their way home, A mother and Daughter duo, we were amazed at the volume of traffic still on the road at this hr but finally arrived at the airport and fought with all the taxis in the world wow there were so many they had a special holding area for them the size of brisbane we then proceed thru custom immigration and then the long walk all the way to the lounge. We finally boarded and slept the entire flight well not really tossed and turned upon arrival at Cairo Airport we were disembarked on the tarmac an had to be bussed to the terminal(not a good sign) we then proceeded to go thru immigration being business class we were front of the cue (so we thought)about 5 people from freedom an official stuck his head out the window and yelled at us all to go away he has a hang over and does not want to work today well thats was what it sounded to un Arabic ear, we then worked out that like all modern Airports like Cairo the Horus bug had gotten into the system and shut down the computers so it was back to the papyrus and quill pen to check every one in, we finally made it and the nice gentleman looked at me looked at my photo looked back at me and then looked at Nancy decided yes it was me and started to sign the paper work when he stopped looked thru the passport and then announced where is your visa hm um did wee need one says I pretending to be the dumb aussie(not hard for me)he said go to the back and i said where and he said at the back so all the way past the crowd we get to the back and all there was was a Bank and an empty arrivals hall hm back Banque says Nancy so off she goes (trusting soul my Nancy) and asked the bloke behind the counter where we can get visa he says here so we say how much $50 dollars each or `86 Egyptian pounds we paid then looked in amazement as he reached into a draw and pulled out a sticker and handed them to us and said re join the cue looking down here was the most expensive bit of paper i have ever bought once again we went thru immigration and all he did was stick the sticker in the passport.Right aligned photo tag:

Once thru customs every second person thru nothing to declare was being pulled up and bags checked so we jumped a new que and was whisked thru. Now the hassels begin we were bombarded with Taxi tour people all were told no thanks we have docket and are fine looking around like a gummpy stuck in a mud pool we were finally attacked by the king of all preditors he emerged from an official looking kiosk and asked if we had transfer arranged we said yes and he said who with we told him 2 seconds later he said its ok we transfwer you to the hotel and the hotels pays so off we go get o the hotel and they say no not our problem its yours damn we have been suckered in 50 eygptian pounds , lesson learnt say no no no and ring number your self. we then were booked in and wow what a sight big difference from last hotel. we are up early again tomorrow 4.30 am for a 5.30 pick up to get the flight to luxor so hopefully will have internet acess on the boat as we sail down the Nile
hugs all till Luxor Stewart and Nancy

$50 for a sticker lol ... what a rip off!! Still, at least you got stung early on - it's a steep learning curve for these things in this part of the world. Hmmmm I bet you didn't declare Trevor hidden away in your luggage now did you ? You Smugglers :)

don't feel bad, lol
Hey Stewie, don't feel too bad. When dad and I arrived at Nagoya Japan airport, 2 older japanese gentlemen 'herded' us towards their taxi. Neither could speak English worth a darn and I practically begged dad to find someone that could translate. Of course with dad being so stubborn, he told me to shut up and proceeded to have the gentlemen load up our suitcases and onto the hotel we went. WELL, once there, the bill was a bit over THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS American and my dad about flipped. I HAD to keep my mouth shut for I so wanted to say 'I told you so', but didn't dare, LMAO. He paid it and it's been one of those 'memories' if you know what I mean, hehehee.

Be safe, continue having tons of fun,
Rob
