Left Mum and Dad at Leeds station. Very emotional but strange how as soon as the train pulled out of the station I stopped feeling sad and just felt excited. And slightly repulsed by the men next to me discussing the previous night's debauchery. Dad waved at them.
According to the guidebook (which would obviously never lie to me) the first European to set foot in New Zealand was a Yorkshireman (represent), Captain James Cook, and his description of the Maori was 'Notwithstanding that they are cannibals they are naturally of a good disposition'. Excellent.

Andie - the reason I started this blog - said that I should record now my hopes for the trip, and what I want to get out of it. Clearly she's been living down south too long. Hoping to meet awesome people, see amazing landscapes and build my self confidence and independence. Most importantly, I want an awesome tan.

Yaaaaaay... I inspired this piece of magic! I'm proud of myself. Record everything, so that when you forget it in less time than you should there will be hard evidence! xxx
