As we had just literally chucked out bags in our room when we arrived, we decide that Monday would be spent trying to get organised. We got up around 10 am which is late for Ben; have Ozzy style wheatabix for breakfast (there a bit smaller than ours back home so I have 3) and a lovely cup of Tetley tea (normality is returning to us slowly but surely). Our house is out of town and not far from the Rain Forest so last night I was bitten to death by bloody mosquitoes and all night long you can hear birds screaming and I mean birds with wings that fly as well as things moving around in the bushes and trees. There is a small creak (I think that's what it's called) close by in which crocks allegedly live; Ben & Simon went to the beer shop and said they saw one!

I set to on our room finding places for all our belongings so we are not living out of our ruck sacks and crack on with the huge pile of washing which desperately needs my urgent attention. Ben continues to sort his CV and references as he intends to just ride round and drop them off at dive shops tomorrow. With washing completed and hanging on the line we just spend the day chillin and getting to know everyone. The house is easy going and the atmosphere is great and I get the feeling that we could get a little too comfortable here.

So today (Tuesday) Ben gets me up about 9ish, we have breakie, jump on our bikes and head into the city. My plan is to find a wireless internet café so I can update this and Ben is going to ride round handing out his CV hoping to land a job as a Dive Master. The roads are fairly quiet and pretty big with cycle lanes so I feel ok well at least until we come to a big junction or roundabout! After the first couple my confidence grows and once we get down to the Esplanade (which is what the area is called) there is a cycle path so I'm not dodging cars. I stop off at an internet place which claims to be laptop friendly but charges more than double for using your own laptop (call that friendly?) and Ben has his map with all the dive shops marked on where he will enquire about jobs. After just one hour I've had enough, the pics are taking forever to download and I really can't be arsed (sorry). We meet back up near the big pool where my bike is parked and bump into Phil and Simon who live in our house. Phil is a computer whiz and says I need to resize my pics so that they will down load faster. It's easy when you know how I guess! Anyway I've had enough for today it is so bloody hot. Ben decides to wait down at the dock for all the dive boats to come back in and I decide I will navigate my way home alone (taking Phil's number just incase I get lost!)

Well I managed to get home in one piece even though it took me nearly half an hour (I know I could have walked in about the same time). I didn't so much as get lost but the roads seem to get busy around 4pm (most people are finishing work I expect) and it took forever to get across one section of the road; cars were coming from all directions so in the end I got off and pushed the bloody thing across the road. We live near the train tracks so once I have found them the rest was easy.

Ben came home all happy after a couple of dive shops seem to be interested in employing him, so fingers crossed. For tea we made jacket potatoes with cheese, beans and bacon bits. We chattered for a few hours with our house mates and a few of us decided an early night was needed as we are having a BBQ tomorrow night for Simons leaving do, which will probably lead to a few beers as well.

To be continued. . . . .
