The weekend had arrived before we knew it so we packed, checked into to the Orchid Hotel, Kalim Bay in Patong (Brian is staying at Patong Lodge just down the road) then set off to the air port to meet him. He was exhausted when he arrived after having had no sleep and having to walk several times from one side of Bangkok airport to the other to sort his bag out. Oh well he's here now and we plan to have fun, fun, fun for the next week.

We leave him to check in, he fell asleep so we met up a few hours later and headed into town where it's all happening. I guess you could say we spent a lot of time in Rio Bar; the food is great (mash potatoes - yum, yum) and played pool. Both of them got beat by a girl how funny, but I was just too good and whooped her easily! We took it steady the first night as we knew Brian would need breaking in gently.

We talked Brian into hiring a scooter and driving around the island as it's the only way to see so much in such a short space of time, for next to nothing. We drove from beach to beach, shopped, had lunch and dinner in many places, drank too much beer; Brian drunk and on larger too - not often you see that! They watched strippers and had a few boys nights while I chilled in our hotel room and at the pool. There were a few too many late nights and bad hangovers. The funniest incident was when they went of on the bikes, parked in the wrong place, the police chained them up (the bikes not them two) and they had to pay a 300 baht fine each. Wish I'd have been there with the camera for that one!

The best day out was the day we went to Phi Phi Island. First we stopped of at Maya Bay the setting for my sister's favourite film The Beech, Leonardo is never around when you need him! And I have to say it is a truly stunning beach, you know that picture postcard we've been searching for; well here it is or at least it would be if it wasn't so bloody commercialised. What they don't tell you when you book is that you have to pay 200 baht to actually step on the beach when you get there; good job we took some extra money. All the boats arrive at once (10am ish) so trying to get that dream photo is out of the question. My advice is if you come here charter your own boat and get here before the crowds. After about an hour we sailed of to crystal clear waters to snorkel, not my favourite hobby but if I've got a life jacket then I will float around for 10/15 minuets. And oh my god we even managed to get our Brian in the water with a life jacket of course because he can't swim, but fair play to him he lasted 10 minuets and at the next stop, after we'd been to monkey beach (see pics) he was off again; this time he snorkelled all the way around the boat and loved every second of it, round of applause please. I stayed on the boat to get pics as evidence, hey when you've seen one fish you've seen em all! Next stop was Coral Island and the journey there was painful especially for us idiots sat up front bouncing around the boat like rag dolls as the boat hit, we felt every wave. We snorkelled some more and I shit my self when a huge octopus was inches below me; time for me to get back on the beach. All too soon the day was over and a few of us were battered and bruised by the time we got to dry land. I left them to have a boy's night out which they enjoyed. In the morning I was in agony and could barely walk after the boat ride and Brian gave in to have a massage (no extra's honest) and booked another just before he goes home.

And before we knew it, it was time for Brian to head back to the airport and sunny Huddersfield (which happens to be having a freak heat wave while he is here). With second massage completed and bags packed we drop him at the airport, say our good byes and hope to catch up with him in Australia or New Zealand later in the year.

So if anyone would like to come out and see us, just email and let us know.

World Cup fever has gripped the whole of Phuket (I have my England shirt; 8 Lampard), the England game was lame, but the Trinidad & Tobago game against Sweden was the best since we were sat with a lad from Trinidad (lives in England now).

Ben and I have fallen out big time. He was pissed again last night and had some money stolen, I flipped. I've had enough and today I drag him back to Bangkok to stick him on a plane home!!

To be continued. . . . .
