Where I stayed
It's a beautiful small village where you can kick back and watch the days go by which is exactly what we did. From the airport we had to take a taxi because the mini buses head to Patong where all the action is. Kamala is well worth a few days of your time if you are passing. The tsunami devastated most if not all of this side of Phuket and to see it now it's amazing; new paths, roads, houses and schools. There's still some building work going on but by next summer it will be completely finished. We picked a guest house out of our guide book which is a few years old; when we arrived the place was no longer there! So we stayed at Natasha's which is right on the corner in front of the beach. The rooms have got a DVD player, huge, huge bed with a fantastic sea view and free tea and coffee. What more could we ask for
We hired a scooter from Benjamin's next door (we looked at staying there but the girl who showed me round was a little too eager and quite scary) and drove round pretty much most of the north side of the island. The roads are pretty good all except the one up to the view point, so it's pretty safe and the only way to get around. Kamala is where you can take in a great show at Phuket Fantasea. The setting is actually grander than the performance but it was a nice night out and we got to cuddle a baby tiger which was so cute.
There's not much to do, it's a place to chill and relax, watch amazing sunsets and catch up on a few movies. I guess it's a family place/sun worshiper's paradise compared to the rest of Phuket.
Time to meet Our Brian, yippee.
To be continued. . . . .
