We arrived in Bangkok around lunch time and took a taxi to Thanon Khao San (Kho San Road) where all the backpackers head. Bangkok is crazy, busy and noisy as hell. We had only planned to spend a few days here and some how ended up staying a week which is way to long. It's hot and we had a bit of rain mostly night time; thunder storms which is good cause we were normally in bed. We did some of the touristy sight seeing bits but spent most of the time in the pub watching live bands. We went to see the infamous ping pong show; it's over priced and not nearly as good as I thought it would be, though what that girl could do with darts must take lots of practice! We got lost coming back as we couldn't remember the road we were staying on and the tuk tuk driver didn't speak a word of English! Ben was accosted by several lady boys which scared him half to death!

It is just too hot to do anything and the traffic is deadlocked; it's rush hour almost every hour of the day, how anyone gets anything done in this place is beyond me. The best and easiest way to get around is on the river boats, it's dead easy and cheap so go for your life.

Down town is full of skyscrapers and shopping malls particularly the Siam Paragon; Asia's biggest shopping mall complete with Siam Ocean World below (it's kind of like Sea Life at Blackpool, but cheaper and more extravagant). The fish tank car is ace. We also went to the cinema to see The Da Vinci Code and should have paid the extra for the Nokia Ultra screens with sofas. We also spent a day wondering around China Town which is basically one big market with bargains galore and i finally got my hair cut.

Ben spent 3 days deliberating over whether or not to get a tattoo, he did - see pics.

Our Brian has finally decided to get his arse on a plane - well 3 actually and we have arranged to meet him in Phuket. We were thinking about going to Hau Hin Jazz Festival - maybe next year.

So we are off to Phuket earlier than expected.

To be continued. . . . .
