Ok we've decide to splash out on a few days in the Maldives; 5 to be exact. First thing in the morning we make our way to the World Trade Centre which houses the main Sri Lankan airlines office and check flights are still available. They are (by the way the whole of Sri Lanka has reopened; the Buddhist festival is over) so we find an internet café and email as many resorts as we can for prices of accommodation, then head back to Mrs Settupathy who really looked after us.

Today is Friday and we book our flights to the Maldives and our connecting flight to Bangkok so we are half way there. We check email and have a few offers of accommodation and after much deliberating and arguing we decide on a lush water bungalow all inclusive (believe me you have to go all inclusive) on Veligandu Island in Rasdhoo Atoll. I am so excited, counting down the hours and cant wait to leave tomorrow.

Our last memory of Sri Lanka is that of a dead body being dragged from the middle of Galle Raod. His face was all mashed in, blood was everywhere and Ben and the tuk tuk driver wanted to pull over for a closer look! We didn't because I freaked out; I can't stand the sight of my own blood let alone anyone else's. Thankfully we didn't actually see it happen but figure he was probably hit by a bus - they are mental drivers.

I couldn't sleep that night, every time I closed my eyes I could see the body being dragged from the road.

Sri Lanka was not the place I hoped it would be, it cost us a small fortune and although the four days of sightseeing were good I can't say I will return ever. No pics here either.

To be continued. . . . .

Don't lie you moron. You are making matters worse.
This country has been a 3rd world dump ever since we got Independence way back in 1948. Tsunami was windfall for all politicians and their stooges. They made a killing out of it.

Thanks for telling the truth.
