David,**, Tues 20-21st January, 2007. Didn't see a McDonalds but I'm sure there was one there. Had Pio Pio, Payless shoe source and the usual ones.

Arrived in Panama and the first thing I noticed was the return of disgusting toilets. The next thing I heard was that it was safe to drink the water here..seemed a little contradictory but we've had no problems drinking it so far.

The border bridge separating Costa Rica from Panama was crazy. It was literally a string of wooden planks shoddily placed together with a large amount of gaping holes where you could see the water underneath. Collins and I had to walk over it which was deadly enough but I don't know how the drivers of the big cargo trucks deal with it! Panama and Costa Rica are prob the two wealthiest states in Central America so it's obvious that the neglect is as a result of unclaimed responsiblity for the bridge rather than for econoic reasons.

Quick night in humid David and next day, we headed up to the cooler highlands to Boquete.
