Antigua **** Totally globalized but the Maccie Ds and Burger King have made an effort to blend in with the colonial buildings. Their signs are in wood etc. Pic may be coming soon if I ever find a reasonably paced computer.

Well this is gonna be a short one (thank GOD I hear ye roar!) cos as much as I'm a loser, I don't wanna be a complete and utter loser spending an hour on the net on Christmas Day! Reached Antigua, Guatamala on the 21st after another night bus from Tikal.
Antigua is beautiful. A Belgian guy that I met in a Cuban bus station likened it to Trinidad in Cuba but there's no comparison. Antigua has the cobblestoned streets but it's cleaner, less polluted and you don't get hassled by every Tom, Dick and Harry. It's a colonial town surrounded by volcanoes which can be seen at any point in the town maccie Ds in Antigua-the classy exterior

It's hard to imagine that we're in a third world country here as I'm enjoying all of the creature comforts I'm accustomed to at home. I've had 3 smoothies since coming here. Collins and I have watched two films (they show them in the pubs for free provided you have a drink) and today we cooked a dinner that was actually quite tasty (obviously not as scrumptious as Wonder Mum's!) from ingredients we bought in the large, SUPERvalu like, CLEAN supermarket. It's great. The showers ain't hot but sher you can't have it all eh.

Antigua was defo a good choice for us for Christmas. I also needed a few days to relax after all the walking in Cuba and Tikal.  My body was in bits. Some of you may remember me falling off the bus last June, my ankles were the size of my knees and I couldn't train for seven weeks? Well the ankles were back to their old mischief and as comfy..and fashionable as my red hiking boots are(I hear a resounding OH YES..), it was a struggle to get my feet into them. They're still a bit swollen now but not as bad. Wonder Mum rang Doc Quinn Medicine woman and she reckons it's either lack of protein or lack of water...Any other suggestions?? Surely I'm a bit young at 22 to be getting Odema (spelt wrong)
I'm feeling a good bit better now too. Heading to climb an active volcano tomorrow so that should test the ankles a good bit anyway....and the lungs!.

Anyway, better head cos Collins is peering over my shoulder with a big grumpy head on him. We haven't given each other our pressies yet and he's like a little child. Happy Christmas to one and all..
Not sure where we'll be to ring in the new year yet but it'll defo be better than last year's venue anyway....wouldn't recommend working in Rockies on New year's Eve to Anyone.
Slan folks
