Today we got up at five to travel down to lands end to wave Dad off. Me, Mum, Sarah and Joe had all made a banner and flags and some bunting that we held up and waved when we he was setting off. By the time we arrived back at the youth hostel it was time to get up so we didnt get anymore sleep as we had wished we would . We were out of the youth hostel and on our way by 8.50 . We went to the Eden project and spent all day there. We thoroughly enjoyed it , especialy the den making area . Our den was amazing it was huge and the people who worked there kept bringing people over to look at it. we named it buckingham palace the 2nd and I pretended to be a news reporter and Mum did a tour of it; it was so funny i was pretending to be the queens dog (after changing from the news reporter) and was laughing so much i fell over . After that we went in the biomes, 1 which was made to look and sound like a rainforest and one that was made as the mediteranean. both of which were full of exotic plants including BANANAS in the rain forest 1. after we had finished at the Eden project we headed to the hostel and arrived after Dad . We then had tea and got ready for bed as Dad has to get up early in the morning .

Hi Folks.. Day 1 completed and I'm absolutely bushed. 122 miles and an average of 14.5mph. I managed to buckle two wheels but the nice man at Halfords put me back on the track. Two massive downpours (one that lasted nearly an hour) and lots of cups of tea. I discovered that the 'cycle lane' on the A30 is actually the storm drain so I was riding in a river. A lot more hilly than I had hoped. the A30 misses the short sharp hills but instead has long drawn out hills and lots of them. I've just had some food at the hostel...energy levels rising again...cheered up when I stopped by texts from friends giving me their support.....thank you......First puncture today...I hope its the last but suspect not.

And he's off.
So that's it now, on your way back north. Well done, first step is always the hardest, Good luck for the rest of the ride.....Bob says to apply copious amounts of Vaseline to nether regions. No, he wasn't offering.
We are off to t'farm in Wales for a week tomorrow so sadly will not be able to follow your progress ( no Broadband or even mobile phone signal..what bliss!)
But will enjoy reading the blog on our return. Love to you all. What an adventure. Alison and Bob xx
